We know that climate change has a disproportionate impact on children’s health, including exposures to extreme heat, air pollution and tick borne illnesses. But integrating this information into clinical practice is another challenge.
To address this, a team from Dartmouth Health and NH Healthy Climate, including Cheryl Anderson, Robert McLellan, Carl Cooley, Sarah Crockett and others, initiated the Climate Informed Pediatric Care (CIPC) Project, in which they educated pediatricians and advanced practice nurses on the health impacts of climate change and how to talk with patients and caregivers. The team also put together a series of informational materials for children and caregivers.
Read about the outcomes of the project in this peer-reviewed paper, published in the Journal of Climate Change and Health.
