Parent Climate Cafes

One key initiative of the CHICKs project is creating space for parents to discuss their feelings related to raising children in a changing world. Climate Cafés are facilitated small-group gatherings for parents of young children to share thoughts and emotions on the impact of climate change on parenting and their children’s health.

In December, 2023 CHICKs leaders Maria Finnegan and Elizabeth Bechard hosted a Parent Climate Cafe at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, VT. This was a collaborative event with Moms Clean Air Force and the Dartmouth Health Center for Advancing Rural Health Equity. This in-person event received great feedback from attendees, and we hope to develop a statewide series of these events to reach diverse audiences.
